What?
FairTrade.us is the home of the only independent Fair Trade news magazine online. It’s simple really. Whether you want to get news, join a discussion, or find great fair trade products, we’re here to help.
We’ll take a closer look at the people and products behind the movement, writing insightful pieces that make connections, look for impacts, and dig deeper than the obvious. On a daily basis we’re also gathering stories from other fair trade sources. Occasionally we edit them, otherwise we reprint articles, ensuring credit is given to the original source. Our intention is make fair trade more accessible.
Why?
The Fair Trade movement has many faces: producers, traders, advocates, third-party certifiers and associations. At times it can be confusing. Over the last five years, there has been much discussion from diverse sources within the trading community.
FairTrade.us will provide a single platform for the sharing of this information. We believe that a single news format, readily accessible to all, is key to growing the fair trade movement. And that’s why we’re doing this!
Who?
The seed for FairTrade.us was planted when Kevin Ward (Global Crafts) called Marcie Boyer (Flavours of Life) and asked, “what do you think of this idea?” The idea was planted!
Work to grow the site into a truly collaborative space, where ideas are shared, independent information reported, and discussion encouraged, will require the active involvement of fair traders the world over!
