While President Obama was not specifically referring to Fair Trade last night in his State of the Union Address, his measurement of progress is at the heart of what Fair Trade businesses seek to achieve both at home and abroad. The economy is growing again but that recovery can not only be measured by the profits corporations make. Progress must also be measured by the quality of life new jobs bring to people.

Happy Fair Trade New Year!

I know it’s a bit of a cliché: Baby New Year, top hat, tinsel, but hey why not? In more ways than one, this image sums up where we are and what we’re trying to do. Since our soft launch in October, you could say we’ve been getting our feet wet. Creating the first independent news magazine dedicated exclusively to the Fair Trade movement is alot like creating a new dish without a recipe…we now think we’re on to something, but only time (and you) will tell.
