Fish Pillow has an abundantly rich feel with a hand embroidered applique ! It’s vibrant design complements any chair, sofa or bed!

The Fish Pillow is made in Sri Lanka by women artisans working together in a network of  women and family co-oops across the island nation.  Many of which are home bound and struggle to provide for their children and older parents.  Each co-op supports the participating artisans by providing practical, income-generating skills training as well as marketing opportunities.  The women learn sewing, carpentry, batik painting and small business skills. These microcredit projects also support the community, contributing to the building of schools and homes, and providing a support system for the families and artisans who depend on the income generated for their small business ventures.

Made with 100% cotton material.  The body of the fish is a patchwork of locally batiked fibers in differing sizes and shapes.  Each patch is intricately joined together by a band of hand stitching, much like the network of female artisans who make these creations working through a network of co-operatives .
